On the topic of background checks the most common source of debate is discussing the difference between a regular background check and fingerprint check. This is a common topic as people want to find out the difference between background checks and fingerprint checks. So what this means is that, unless somebody has had an encounter with law enforcement, chances are they won’t have a file and that there won’t be any assumptions that the person has been convicted or charged.
A background check is the common means of screening applicants as this method is much more accurate, what happens in this process is that the applicant’s criminal records, education, work history and their financial records are looked up and compiled. So hiring companies will want to have more information with regards to a candidate in order for them to properly make an solid decision. There are some industries where a background check upon application is mandatory; taxi drivers, candidates who are FSA registered, and then healthcare professionals just to name a few. Though employees have the rights to keep some areas of their records private, the extent of this right differs from country to country. Although police records and such cannot be kept private, companies who violate the employee’s right to privacy can be prosecuted.
